GEEZER News...

080623  It's been a while, hasn't it.  Well, have no fear,  GEEZER is still here.  It seems we've been pretty busy with other stuff for a little while now - family activities, taking care of business, etc.  And we've made some progress on our demo CD, and expect to finish it pretty soon.  We've also had a few opportunities to sit in with some other bands.  Bryan has played with a number of different bands including the Galaxy band, Nick has played some solo gigs, and yours truly recently got to play a couple of gigs with Bob Kuban.  I must admit that playing The Cheater with Bob Kuban was kind of a thrill.  By the way, we'll be posting a second GEEZER band member interview in this space as soon as we decide who deserves to be in the band's doghouse.  Send suggestions to the webmaster.
071215  We're thinking that our good friends might want to know a bit more about the characters that perform in your favorite rock and roll band.  So, we've decided to post a few interviews for your amusement and amazement.

Your first glimpse, then, into the inner workings of GEEZER is through the warped and perverted personality that is GEEZER band member James D Brewen, sometimes known as Jimmy B.  (And sometimes known by other names that should not be repeated in polite company.)  Jim has been playing authentic rock and roll since his older brother first let him tag along to his Redcoats gigs way back in the early 60s.  The Redcoats played some pretty fair rock and roll and rhythm and blues, with steady beat provided by none other than Geezer drummer, Paul Ekstrom.  Jim claims to be a distant relative of Paul, but Paul denies it.  Jim's interview begins here.

071126  And a good time was had by all!  Yes, indeed Cookies was the place to be last Friday evening.  Wild, Cool & Swingin proved once again how much fun good swing music can be.  Thanks boys. Alright, then it's only a couple of weeks until the next GEEZER performance at JP's Sports Bar and Grill, and by then we will have completed most of the tracks for the new GEEZER demo DVD.  (See 071026)  So, let go of the Christmas shopping stress for a few hours and stop by on December 15th to enjoy some authentic rock and roll music.  You can dance, drink, eat, listen, sing along and/or converse with the nice people nearby, in no particular order.  Or heckle the band.  We're used to it.  Whatever makes you happy.
071120  Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who reads this from your favorite authentic rock and roll band of authentic rock and roll musicians, affectionately known as GEEZER.   And as for this Friday evening... GEEZER will not be performing.  Instead, we will be enjoying authentic swing music performed by Wild, Cool & Swingin at Cookies Jazz and More, a smoke-free jazz club in Webster Groves, MO.  http://www.cookiesjazz.com/  We've enjoyed WC&S many times before at Cookies, and guarantee that you'll enjoy them, too.  Come and join us.
071114  JP's was pretty well packed all evening last Saturday.  It was very cool to see the place full of folks having fun and enjoying authentic rock and roll music performed by authentic aging rock and roll musicians.  Before I sink further into Mick Jagger syndrome let me tell you about the dancing. The dancing was outstanding!  That's right, outstanding.  There was some fine, fine dancing on the part of some fine, fine ladies.  Fine, indeed.  But, not only that.  There were some pretty impressive male steps going on out on the dance floor as well.  And, even certain GEEZER feet were showing off a bit.  Bryan, I didn't know you had it in you.  But we're glad you let it out.  Hopefully, it'll never come back.  No, really.
071026  GEEZER recently had an important meeting to discuss global warming, problems in the Middle East, cold fusion, and, mostly whether we would like to play a few more times each month in 2008.  After much debate and discussion, we decided that we would.  So, you can expect to have greater opportunities to enjoy authentic rock and roll music in 2008 at even more venues. That does, of course, assume that other proprietors at other venues will be willing to fork over the necessary jack to retain the aforementioned services at agreed upon times during the aforementioned calendar year.  To that end your favorite authentic rock and roll band is seeking out facilities for producing a good quality demo of authentic rock and roll music.  If you have a recommendation for such facilities, please email your recommendation, with necessary contact information to geezer@geezermusic.net.  Most importantly, proprietors need patrons to patronize their establishments in order to pay the aforementioned jack to retain the aforementioned services at agreed upon times during the aforementioned calendar year.  So...we're doing a demo to get a few more gigs so that you'll have more opportunities to come out and dance to our music.  It's a beautiful thing.
071012  Well, folks...the good people at JP's Sports Bar and Grill have asked us to continue doing that thing we do for their good patrons for yet another year!  People there must like authentic rock and roll music.  Or, perhaps they like good burgers and tolerate authentic rock and roll music.  In any case we're happy to be playing there every few weeks during 2008.  To those of you who come out to be with us at JP's, thanks.  We look forward to entertaining you with good classic rock and roll music for a while longer.
